ABOUT THE ECC

Located at 15 Casco Street in downtown Portland, the Equality Community Center (ECC) is the first of its kind in Maine - a collaborative workplace for LGBTQ+ and allied social justice-seeking non-profit organizations, in addition to serving as a community center for Maine’s LGBTQ+ community.

With almost 22,000 sq ft of office, meeting and event space, the ECC is a permanent home for our community, serving as a clearinghouse to help connect members of our community with the support services they need to not only survive, but thrive. Every Mainer deserves the right to live their authentic life, free from discrimination, hate, violence or prejudice, and the ECC strives to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive physical space for our community to gather to connect with each other and engage with the organizations working on their behalf.

TENANT ORGANIZATIONS

The ECC currently houses the following non-profit organizations whose programs and services make a difference in the lives marginalized communities throughout Maine, including:

PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS

We are also proud to partner with the following organizations and community initiatives who offer support and connection for our community.

ACCESSIBILITY, AMENITIES AND SPACE RENTALS

Our ramp-accessible entrance to the Center is located at the rear-left corner of the building. Please ring the doorbell upon arrival and a Greeter or staff member will let you in. There is an elevator to access office, meeting and event spaces on all three floors. Fully accessible restrooms are located on the main and lower levels of the building.

The Center boasts a self-serve cafe, a reading room and lending library, an art gallery, free wifi and Safe Combinations Thrift Store, run by MaineTransNet.

We offer space to rent for community events, meetings, board retreats, trainings, and more. Email Molly to find out more about one-time or recurring rental of our conference room, Great Room or multipurpose meeting rooms, or to inquire about becoming a tenant organization.

OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY

The Board and Staff of the ECC recognize that communities are better served when there is an understanding and appreciation of our differences. Here at the ECC, we vow to be anti-racist, pro-LGBTQ+ and accepting to all. We stand firmly against bias, intolerance, and discrimination of any kind.
