Empowerment Self-Defense with Prevention. Action. Change. -- Monthly drop-in series

These fun and information packed sessions are open to LGBTQIA+ community members. Come gain effective and accessible verbal and physical tools to prevent and respond to violence in all its forms. Gain tools for managing adrenaline in stressful moments and strategies for setting boundaries, de-escalating situations, and responding forcefully when needed.

While addressing serious topics and situation, this classis engaging and built around the ethic of challenge by a choice. There are many ways to participate and you decide what works for you; watcha an exercise, participate in a role play, strike a bag, practice grab and release with or without touch. All physical techniques are accessible and adaptable.

Bios:

AJ (They/Them) is a queer and trans activist who was born in, and currently resides in the part of traditional Wabanaki Confederacy territory referenced now as Southern Maine. AJ is a survivor of sexual assault, and is specifically passionate about sharing knowledge and building skills for community safety and healing within the queer/trans community, especially for youth.

Dri (they/she) is a clinically trained social worker who currently works in higher education supporting LGBTQIA+ students. Dri is passionate about supporting community empowerment for young adults, those with livid experience of mental illness or substance abuse and the LGBTQIA+ community.
